Gateway 2.5: Security Improvements

In our continuous journey to enhance security and provide more control to our users, we're excited to announce the release of Enapter Linux 2.5. This version introduces significant updates designed to fortify your IoT gateway's security and offer customization options.

Version 2.5.0 was released on Feb 9, 2024.

Important Update: Enhanced Security Measures

WARNING

With the upgrade to version 2.5.0, we've prioritized your security by disabling the Remote Terminal (Web SSH) feature by default. To maintain remote access to your Gateway from the Cloud, please activate the Remote Terminal through the local Gateway Web UI settings page.

Need remote access? No problem. We've made it easy to turn the Remote Terminal back on. Visit the local Gateway Web UI settings page and click on a "Enable" button to enable this feature. For further information, please refer to the instructions.

HTTPS Support for Web UI / REST API

With the latest update, both HTTPS and HTTP versions of the Web UI and REST API are now available. During the update process, self-signed HTTPS certificates will be automatically generated, ensuring enhanced security right out of the box.

We understand the challenges of browser warnings with self-signed certificates. To bypass these alerts and enhance your security, we provide straightforward instructions on how to implement your own certificates, ensuring a seamless and secure user experience.

In upcoming releases, we plan to introduce an option to disable the HTTP interface and automatically redirect all HTTP requests to HTTPS.
