# Changing Gateway Network Settings

We recommend using an Ethernet cable connection for the Enapter Gateway as it is more reliable than a WiFi connection. However, if an Ethernet connection is not feasible, you can connect the Gateway to WiFi. Please note that this process requires physical access to the PC running the Enapter Gateway Software. You will need to connect a monitor and keyboard to the PC.

Once you have connected the monitor and keyboard, you will see the welcome screen from the operating system.

  1. Execute the login command. The username is enapter and the password is the superuser password set during the initial Gateway setup or default password enapter.

  2. After successfully logging in, enter the following command:

bash
sudo su -
nmtui

This will launch the console UI for network setup.

NMTUI Main Screen

  1. In the console UI, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to navigate and select the "Activate a connection" menu entry. Press the "Enter" key.

NMTUI Activate Connection Screen

  1. From the list of available networks, select your WiFi network and press "Enter".

  2. You will be prompted for the WiFi password. Enter the password and press "Enter" again.

NMTUI WiFi Password Prompt

  1. The Gateway should establish the connection to the WiFi network after entering the password.

  2. Once the connection is successfully established, you can exit the network setup application by pressing Esc key on the keyboard multiple times.
